Knitting Without Needles Tutorial

In answer to a comment on my 'New colorwebs' post, here is a photo lesson on how to knit without needles. This technique has been taught to me by the late Marta Cantos, whose memory lives on with the online shop The Thread Room, operated by her daughter. There you will find the most luscious colored yarns to knit your own colorwebs. Unfortunately this on-line shop is no longer an option for Australian knitters, as The Thread Room now only ships to knitters in the U.K.
For us here, the best yarn to create beautiful colorwebs would have to be Colinette Point 5, available from a number of on-line yarn shops.
Enjoy!

The images below show you how to cast on, basically using the European long tail method and turning your hands into needles....

Next comes turning the row which is done by transferring the stitches to the other hand.....

...followed by knitting, using only knit stitches, effectively knitting garter stitch.......

Continue this way until desired length is achieved, pulling on the work to align stitches as shown...

...then cast of as you would with needles....

..continue across all stitches and thread end through stitches, cut and there you have - your own colorweb!
