This garment is knitted in the
round and the shoulder stitches grafted together, eliminating any seams.
Needles: Rib 3.5mm, body 4.5 mm
Gauge: 19 sts x 20 rws per 10 cm
across textured pattern.
Yarn: 400gr Tarndwarncoort
Polwarth Wool/Silk blend 8ply, estimated meters: 640 m

With rib needle, cast on 184 sts, pm ,join. (184 sts)
Estab rib pat on Rnd 1: *K2, P2. Repeat from * to end. Work
13 rnds. Rnd 14 - Rib-to-Body inc:
20 incs. Work 8 [inc
1 in next st, work 7, inc 1 in next st, work 8] 4x. [inc 1 in next st, work 8] 12x. (204 st - 6.25
cm].
With body needle, work establishment of texture pattern row
as follows:
Starting at the center of the pattern repeat (purl 3 tog),
work, following the graph between the black arrows. After the half pattern
repeat, 4 full pattern repeats and another half repeat, place side seam marker
and repeat the same arrangement across the back and place end of row marker.
(you might have to add or subtract a couple of stitches to make the repeats fit)
Cont working in texture pattern until piece meas 37.5cm[rnd
64].
Divide for Front
& Back
Bind off 5 sts. Work to next marker. Stop. Slip rem sts on
holder. Turn. Bind off 5 sts. Complete row. Cont working 92 sts for back, until
piece meas 63.8cm [row 116]. Place all stitches on hold.
Slip sts from holder [front] onto needle. Attach yarn. With
RS facing, shape armhole same as back and, at the same time, when piece meas
37.5 cm [row 62] begin neck shaping:
Work to center, attach another ball of yarn and complete
row.Turn. Work both sides at once.
Dec 1 st at each neck edge every 2nd rw 11x, then every 4th rw 7x. Cont in pat st
until piece meas 63.8 cm [row 116].
Graft remaining 28 shoulder stitches to back, using the
Kitchener stitch.
Armhole Edging:
With smaller size needle, pick up 110 sts around armhole edge.
Work in desired edge finish. Bind off loosely.
Standard Neck
Finishing:
With smaller circular or dp needle and
RS facing, pick up the
remaining 36 sts from stitch holder for back neck, pick up 42 sts from left neck edge,
place center marker, pick up 42 sts from
right neck edge, place end of round marker. (121sts)
Rnd1: work in k2, p2
ribbing to within 2 sts of center marker, k2tog, slip marker, ssk, work in k2,
p2 ribbing to end of round.
Repeat rnd 1 for approx. 2.5 cm. Bind off loosely in
ribbing.
Weave in all ends and press.
